George Heathco is the Marketing and Communications Manager for the Houston Chamber Choir. George received a B.M. in music business and an M.M. in composition from the University of Houston. He has taught guitar and music theory privately in the Houston area for over a decade, regularly served as a faculty member of American Festival for the Arts, has taught numerous classes at the University of Houston and Lonestar College, and is a contributing writer for the contemporary music web magazine I Care If You Listen. He is also the Co-Artistic Director and guitarist for Liminal Space Contemporary Music Ensemble, a Houston-based ensemble founded by George and percussionist Luke Hubley.
George has composed music for Da Camera of Houston, Divergence Vocal Theater, HGOco, Ornery Theatre, Scordatura Music Society, The University of Houston’s AURA Contemporary Ensemble, The Moores School of Music Jazz Orchestra, ReGifting Lions, and contributed string arrangements for singer/songwriter Chris Telfer’s MATTOO E.P.. His music has also been programmed by Musiqa, SOLI Chamber Ensemble, and Forecast Music. He was a member of the 2010-2011 Da Camera of Houston Young Artist Program, and in 2011 was the graduate division winner of the Sarofim Composition Contest at the University of Houston.
