Just Imagine!

  • South Main Baptist Church 4100 Main Street Houston, TX, 77002 United States (map)

In this program the Houston Chamber Choir performs David Lang’s Pulitzer Prize-winning the little match girl passion, a groundbreaking work praised for its unique purity and beauty inspired by Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and Hans Christian Andersen’s short story. In lighthearted contrast to the little match girl passion, two other works of striking originality will be performed, A Medieval Bestiary, by Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer and Eric Whitacre's "Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine.”

Works by Pablo Casals and Edward Elgar complete this evening of rare sights and sounds.

Join us for the After Party:

Patrons are invited to join the Chamber Choir Singers and Robert Simpson, immediately after the performance has ended for a celebratory affair at Brooklyn Athletic Club.  This private party will take place on the patio, reserved exclusively for Houston Chamber Choir Patrons and Singers!  Brooklyn Athletic Club is located a short distance from the performance venue, so guests can expect a 5 minute drive or less to the party.

Brooklyn Athletic Club Address:  601 Richmond Ave, Houston, TX 77006

Ample free parking is available to all patrons in the main parking lot of the church.
