In this program the Houston Chamber Choir performs David Lang’s Pulitzer Prize-winning the little match girl passion, a groundbreaking work praised for its unique purity and beauty inspired by Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and Hans Christian Andersen’s short story. In lighthearted contrast to the little match girl passion, two other works of striking originality will be performed, A Medieval Bestiary, by Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer and Eric Whitacre's "Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine.”
Works by Pablo Casals and Edward Elgar complete this evening of rare sights and sounds.
