April Harris

Manager of Operations and Patron Services

Biography

April joins our team from the East Coast, where her 10-year Arts Management career blossomed and immersed her into several artistic disciplines such as classical theater, musical theater, instrumental music, and visual art in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, Georgia.

You’ll consistently find April volunteering with arts programs in her surrounding communities to ensure that exposure to artistic creation and performance continues with the next generations. She credits her commitment to supporting the arts to her own early exposure to performance art in school and extracurricular activities.

At her alma mater, Emory University, April further developed her fierce love of performance art. She studied anthropology and theater performance and worked as House Manager for Theater Emory, the university’s resident professional theater company, for most of her undergraduate career.

April holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Communication and Public Relations from Trinity Washington University in D.C., where she had the unique opportunity to connect many of her graduate research projects to her arts background. One of her first undergraduate theater showcases (an excerpt from Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler) was the inspiration behind her graduate capstone research paper, an analysis of character communication styles.

A lover of all things dramatic, inventive and pickled (she really likes to pickle vegetables), April looks forward to exploring and growing the city’s engaging art scene with Houston Chamber Choir and building connections with other arts enthusiasts.
