In tribute to the music and culture of Mexico, Houston Chamber Choir will perform a program of Mexican choral music entitled, “Mexicantos.” The brilliance of Mexico’s choral tradition will be on full display as the Chamber Choir presents works from the country’s golden age of polyphony to its present-day gems, including a rediscovered work performed for the first time in 250 years.
Confirming its role as one of the country’s leading ensembles, Houston Chamber Choir wins The American Prize in Choral Performance, 2015. In addition, the choir’s Founder and Artistic Director, Robert Simpson, receives the Prize in the Choral Conducting category. The award celebrates American excellence in the arts.
