St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 7:30PM
with the newly-formed Houston Chamber Choir Youth Chorus and members of the Houston Symphony
Betsy Cook Weber, conductor
We begin our new season’s “Journey” with music that moves across time and space. Houstonian David Ashley White’s Spirit Moving Over Chaos is haunting, beautiful, and memorable, and leads us perfectly into a single movement of Tarik O’Regan’s "The Ecstasies Above". We then offer George Frideric Handel’s virtuosic, ambitious "Dixit Dominus", written when he traveled to Italy as a young man of 22. The newly formed Houston chamber choir Youth Chorus joins us for Samuel Barber’s "Agnus Dei", and we close by traveling to "The Promised Land" by British composer, Ken Burton.
