David Furney
David is a native of Fairfax County, Virginia. He completed his B.M. and M.M. degrees in Piano Performance & Pedagogy from the University of Houston Moores School of Music under the tutelage of Ms. Nancy Weems, Dr. Andrew Staupe, and Dr. Todd Van Kekerix. Mr. Furney recently returned from the Interharmony International Music Festival in Acqui Terme, Italy. He gave numerous solo and collaborative performances as well as participated in the Masterclass Series program. His other festival experiences include the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival, and Indiana University Piano Program. Mr. Furney’s collegiate instructional experiences include solo piano, and lecture music theory. On top of his collegiate studies, David was highly active with U.H. choirs as tenor for the Moores School of Music Concert Chorale under Dr. Betsy Cook Weber, and student director of Man Corps under Dr. Jeb Mueller. He is currently a staff tenor for Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church. In his free time, David’s hobbies include exploring music psychology, music cognition, cycling, hiking, camping, and amateur radio. This is David’s first season with the Houston Chamber Choir.
