Phillip Velarde
Phillip, an army child hailing from Georgia, graduated with degrees in Vocal Performance and Vocal Music Education from the University of Houston's Moores School of Music in 2022. He kept busy during school by singing in professional and collegiate choirs, performing in UH operas, stage managing shows, leading an A Capella group, performing with churches as a staff singer, and competing internationally with the UH Concert Chorale in 2018, 2019, and 2022. Currently, Phillip is the Assistant Choir Director at Ronald Thornton Middle School, as well as a staff singer at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. When he is not making music, he is a competitive ultra-marathon runner. He is training for a 100-mile race this summer. Phillip Is delighted to be a part of the prestigious Houston Chamber Choir for his first season.
